Countdown to Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is going to be here before we know it. I'm really looking forward to it, it's one of my favorite holidays because I love traditions, good food and families getting together. However, I realize for most kids it's not something that they're too excited about. It's a little blip between the "cool" holidays of Halloween and Christmas and you get a couple days of no school. Well, here are some ideas to rock the kids' table at Thanksgiving this year from Pottery Barn Kids:
The fine china is boring and overrated. These super cute turkey plates make the kiddie table THE place to be this year.

And it's not a party until you add these adorable turkey headbands. How fun are these! They crack me up-I think they have the potential to be used at the adult table after enough wine has been served. :)

Also, keep a basket of fun Thanksgiving books like these ones for kids to read:

Thanksgiving Is... by Gail Gibbons
Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks by Margaret Sutherland
The Story of the Pilgrims by Katharine Ross
Sarah Morton's Day: A Day in the Life of a Pilgrim Girl by Kate Waters
(this one is a favorite of my daughter)
I'd love to hear how you celebrate Thanksgiving with kids-special crafts, recipes or traditions that you have!

I love Thanksgiving too! I love having having the family around and the fireplace going while The turkey is finishing and the kids are sneaking in to grab some cookies while we watch football and get ready to eat our delicious big meal. You are right it is a great holiday!

Oh yeah, how could I forget the tradition of football! To my husband, Thanksgiving=Football games. Oh and a mom tradition of mine, looking at all the ads and planning my strategic black friday shopping day!:)

No real traditions yet, Merrick is only 2. I think we will do the timeless turkey hand craft project : )
One thing we do is have a turkey day happy hour. Our friends all come over for apps and drinks and then head off for their family feasts!

I love Thanksgiving - as it is my favorite food holiday. It starts out with the Macy' Day Parade and prepping the bird. I love the fact that whole house smells like turkeya and sweet potatoes and cinnamon and pecan pie all day long!

Since we've been in California, we have T'giving with friends. I miss my family on this day , most of all.

That headband is cute! You should see the ones they featured in Family Fun magazine for Thanksgiving! It looked like the girl had two turkey drumsticks on either side of her head. What a crack up!

I love Thanksgiving too.
We do a lot of crafts, my house is covered with all kind of turkeys by the time Thanksgiving arrives.

Those plates are so adorable. I am trying to figure a way to make them.

Those Pottery Barn plates are adorable! And you're right, the headbands would definitely end up at the adult table, by the end of the meal, at our house, haha!!
p.s. thanks for stopping by my blog, keep in touch!
